The Christian Work Ethic

Adam‘s rebellion against God brought a curse upon the earth that is still in operation today. God has made it mandatory for men to work and earn their own way in life.

Look at what God said to Adam in Genesis 3:17-19:

Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; thorns also, and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, til thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

When I was a child, my Dad told me about this Bible verse and he passed his strong work ethic on to me.

My Dad, Andrew, and my Father-in-Law, Ernest, were part of the Greatest Generation, who survived the Great Depression and  World War Two. They taught me by example what it means to be a man. They taught me that God expects us to work, and now I’m telling you. If you’re taking a free ride through life, then, you’re riding on somebody else’s back.

Mr. Ernest based his life on this verse, and he taught it to me.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. 1 Timothy 5:8

Believe in God and the Bible. Accept God’s ways, and obey his word. God has ordained that you pay your own way in life, and pay for the support of your family.

My wife and I both worked very hard and raised three daughters. We taught them to love the Lord and to base their lives on the Bible. Now we are passing these values on to our grandchildren.

Teach your children to have reverence for God and obey him. Teach your sons to be godly men who pay their own way through life, who love their wives and support their children.

It Is Impossible to Enslave a Bible-Reading People

Horace Greeley (1811-1872) was the founding editor of the New York Tribune. He was an influential American journalist and political leader. He said, “It is impossible to mentally or socially enslave a Bible-reading people. The principles of the Bible are the groundwork of human freedom.”

The current events of the day show this is certainly true. The American People are refusing to be enslaved by their government, and live in a Socialist state.

The Liberals and Socialists of America were aware of this connection between freedom and the Bible. They thought that the first step to enslave us would be to take away our Bibles. They have spent the last fifty years trying to remove God and the Bible from our culture.

The Bible is banned from our public schools. The Ten Commandments have been excluded from schools, and some local courthouses. That is ridiculous when you consider that the Ten Commandments are a permanent part of the US Supreme Court building. But the American people are still holding on to “their guns and their religion.”

Everything the Liberals, the Secularists, and the Socialists have done has come to nothing. They don’t know they are fighting against God and have no chance of winning. They have limited themselves to the wisdom of men, and that doesn’t amount to much.

Jesus said in John 8:31-32, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” God’s word has made us free and keeps us free.  We are the most free people on earth and we intend to stay that way

The Liberals may have removed the Bible from our schools, but they cannot remove it from our hearts and minds. We will pass it on to our children and our grandchildren.

The United States has always been the land of the free. Americans will never surrender the freedoms guaranteed us by our Constitution. We are the envy of the world, and the most prosperous nation the world has ever seen.

The United States is most definitely a Christian nation. That is how we started and that is who we are. According to the Rasmussen Survey, 63% of Americans believe that the Bible is the word of God, and 79% believe that Jesus rose from the dead.

It Maketh Wise the Simple

Posted by: Larry Vaughn    in Bible Study

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.  Psalm 19:7

The Bible is the testimony of God. He wrote it, and filled it with his wisdom. It contains ideas that originated in the mind of God. Freedom and liberty are his ideas, just like the idea that all men are created equal.

Our form of government only works for Bible believing people. Those who have the wisdom to govern themselves. John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

William Penn said, “Men must be governed by God, or they will be ruled by tyrants.”

The word “simple,” as used in this verse means “naive.” Reading the Bible will make you street smart. You won’t be so gullible as to believe everything you hear.

When your college professor tells you that God does not exist, that creation created itself, and there is no such thing as truth, you won’t believe him.

Because you know that Jesus said, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”  (John 8:32) That truth is the testimony of God as contained in the Bible.
