The following quotes show us that Americans today are fighting in the same war as the Founding Fathers—as the Tyrants of the world try to stamp out Liberty, Godliness, and Christianity. These words are just as relevant today as when they were first spoken.

The fact that the war against Liberty is still going on proves that we haven’t lost it. There’s hope for America yet. Listen to these inspiring words from Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death” speech:

The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations . . . Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.

Benjamin Franklin’s Call for Prayer

Benjamin Franklin was 81 years old at the time of the Constitutional Convention. He knew that God helped us to defeat the most powerful military force in the world, Great Britain, and win our independence from them.

The delegates to the Constitutional Convention were unable to agree on anything at first. Then, Franklin reminded them that they were all Christians; and they adopted his motion to begin each session by praying together. With God’s help, they created the United States Constitution. They invented a new form of government that had never existed before. Nobody has ever devised a government that is better than ours.  The world has never seen a richer, more powerful, caring and compassionate nation that The United States of America. We have more freedom here than anywhere else on earth.

This is part of what Benjamin Franklin’s speech to the men who founded the United States of America.

“How has it happened, Sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly applying to the Father of lights to illuminate our understandings? In the beginning of the contest with G. Britain, when we were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the Divine Protection.

Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a Superintending providence in our favor. . . . And have we now forgotten that powerful friend? or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance.

I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth–that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?

We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings that ‘except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.’ I firmly believe this; . . . “

Benjamin Franklin was well known for his wisdom. He knew for a fact that God helped us to win the Revolutionary war. There is no doubt that he believed in God; and that he was well-acquainted with the Bible. Without God and Benjamin Franklin, the United States of America would not exist.

America Is Great Because She Is Good

America is an idea that was inspired by God.

George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and the other Founding Fathers gave us a nation that is based on God and the Bible.

The government they created has proven itself to be the best government ever devised.  It has allowed us to enjoy unprecedented liberty and prosperity for more than two hundred years.

Over those years, many men have died to preserve this freedom for us.

At the conclusion of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, he refers to the American patriots who died there:

“We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

In 1831, Alexis de Tocqueville came to America to discover the secret of her greatness, and this was his conclusion:

“In the end, the state of the Union comes down to the character of the people. I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her commodious harbors, her ample rivers, and it was not there. I sought for it in the fertile fields, and boundless prairies, and it was not there. I sought for it in her rich mines, and vast world commerce, and it was not there.

Not until I went into the churches of America, and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. . . . America is great because she is good. If America ever ceases to be good, then she will cease to be great.”

I cannot believe that the American people will sit back and watch our enemies—foreign and domestic—take away our freedom. Beause we are the United States of America. We the people of the United States are the country. We outrank the government. The majority of us are religious and moral people.

According to a Rassmussen poll, 79% of all adult Americans believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. We really are a Christian nation, and we always have been. That is why we are still the greatest nation in the world. And this government of the people, by the people, and for the people will never perish from the earth.
