The Progressives Are Destroying America

When the Pilgrims stepped off the Mayflower, they brought the Bible with them. The reason they came here and endured such great hardship was this: They wanted their children to live in a society that was governed by Biblical principles. And their descendents, the Founding Fathers, fulfilled that dream.  They invented a new form of government. And they gave us a nation where we are  free to practice our religion and to govern ourselves.

American exceptionalism is the result of God’s blessing. And the Liberty that we enjoy today is a by-product of Christianity.

Throughout history, our leaders warned us that “Those people who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants.” (Wm Penn) And “It is when people forget God that tyrants forge their chains.”(Patrick Henry) “You can’t enslave a Bible-reading people.” (Horace Greeley) And the Bible was America’s textbook for the first three hundred and fifty years of our existence.

Noah Webster was the greatest American educator who ever lived. Look at what he wrote in his public school textbook, “History of the United States” in 1832: “The religion which has introduced civil liberty is the religion of Christ and his apostles, which enjoins humility, piety, and benevolence; which acknowledges in every person a brother, or a sister, and a citizen with equal rights. This is genuine Christianity, and to this we owe our free Constitutions of Government.”

He was writing to school children. He gave them the following advice, and his words turned out to be prophetic:

“When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God. The preservation of a republican government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty.

If the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted; laws will be made not for the public good so much as for the selfish or local purposes; Corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the laws; the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the rights of the citizens will be violated or disregarded.

If a republican government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws.”

The Progressives measure our “progress” by how far we’ve departed from the teachings of the Bible. Look how how far we have progressed, in their eyes, in the past fifty years! The Ten Commandments are banned in public buildings. And it’s illegal to read the Bible in the public schools.

We were naive enough to let the Progressives remove the Bible from our culture. They knew they had to take our Bibles away before they could enslave us. They tell us there’s no such thing as truth, or liberty that comes from God. They want their government to be our god, and they want to make slaves of us all.

Why are they so afraid of the Bible? What’s in there that scares them so muchl?  It is the truth. And the truth is their enemy. They can’t stand it, and they can’t stand up to it. To them, truth is like Kryptonite to Superman.

God is a Revealer of Secrets

George Washington Carver was a creative genius.  He invented crop rotation, and discovered over 300 new uses for peanuts. He was a friend of Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and three American Presidents. He saved the economy of the South from the devastation that followed the Civil War; and this was in spite of the fact that his father and mother were slaves. How was he able to accomplish all of these things? This is his answer to that question:

“There is literally nothing that I ever wanted to do, that I asked the blessed Creator to help me to do, that I have not been able to accomplish. It’s all very simple, if one knows how to talk with the Creator. It is simply seeking the Lord and finding Him… all my life I have risen regularly at four o’clock and have gone into the woods and talked with God.

There he gives me my orders for the day…when people are still asleep I hear God best and learn my plan…after my morning’s talk with God I go into my laboratory and begin to carry out His wishes for the day.”

Mr. Carver’s greatest personal discovery was the Lord Jesus Christ. He believed the Bible and did exactly what it says. And it worked for him just like Jesus said it would: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26)

The Holy Spirit showed him how to do those things, and he will help you in your work. Get to know him and stay in fellowship with him. There is no problem that he cannot solve. Ask God to teach you the things that you need to know, and listen for his “still small voice,” (the voice of your conscience) and do whatever God tells you to do.

The fact that the war against Liberty is still going on proves that we haven’t lost it. There’s hope for America yet. Listen to these inspiring words from Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death” speech:

The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations . . . Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.

George Washington Believed in The God of The Bible

Every schoolchild in America used to know about the impeccable character and bravery of George Washington. He actually led his men into battle from the front.
One of the Indian Chiefs who fought against George Washington in the French and Indian War wanted to meet the man he called “the bulletproof general.” He said that he had personally shot at Washington several times, but the bullets never touched him. In one battle alone, he had three horses shot from under him.
George Washington was the Father of our Country; and he said, “It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible.” He reminded the delegates at the Constitutional Convention that without Divine Intervention, we would not have won our independence in the Revolutionary War.
Here are some excerpts from the speech that General Washington gave his troops at the beginning of the War:

“The time is now near at hand, which must probably determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their houses and farms are to be pillaged and destroyed, and themselves consigned to a state of wretchedness from which no human efforts will deliver them.

“The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and conduct of this army. Our cruel and unrelenting enemy leaves us only the choice of a brave resistance, or the most abject submission. We have, therefore, to resolve to conquer, or to die. . . .

“Let us, then rely on the goodness of our cause, and the aid of the Supreme Being, in whose hands victory is, to animate and encourage us to great and noble actions. . . .

“Liberty, property, life, and honor are all at stake; upon your courage and conduct rest the hopes of our bleeding and insulted country. Our wives, children, and parents expect safety from us alone, and they have every reason to believe that Heaven will crown with success so just a cause. . . .

Benjamin Franklin’s Call for Prayer

Benjamin Franklin was 81 years old at the time of the Constitutional Convention. He knew that God helped us to defeat the most powerful military force in the world, Great Britain, and win our independence from them.

The delegates to the Constitutional Convention were unable to agree on anything at first. Then, Franklin reminded them that they were all Christians; and they adopted his motion to begin each session by praying together. With God’s help, they created the United States Constitution. They invented a new form of government that had never existed before. Nobody has ever devised a government that is better than ours.  The world has never seen a richer, more powerful, caring and compassionate nation that The United States of America. We have more freedom here than anywhere else on earth.

This is part of what Benjamin Franklin’s speech to the men who founded the United States of America.

“How has it happened, Sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly applying to the Father of lights to illuminate our understandings? In the beginning of the contest with G. Britain, when we were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the Divine Protection.

Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a Superintending providence in our favor. . . . And have we now forgotten that powerful friend? or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance.

I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth–that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?

We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings that ‘except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.’ I firmly believe this; . . . “

Benjamin Franklin was well known for his wisdom. He knew for a fact that God helped us to win the Revolutionary war. There is no doubt that he believed in God; and that he was well-acquainted with the Bible. Without God and Benjamin Franklin, the United States of America would not exist.

The Bible Is God’s Word

The ideas that are in the Bible originated in the mind of God. It’s true that men wrote the Bible, but God told them what to say. He is actually the author of the Bible.

The Bible says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16)

It also says, “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Peter 1:21)

If you believe that the Bible is the word of God, then you know the truth about life, and about God and the universe. You are way ahead of the old philosophers, the spiritually dead, and the children of the Devil—who have no hope in this world, or in the world to come.

I feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t believe what the Bible says. Many of them are brilliant people. They have genius IQ’s, and degrees from Harvard and Yale. They are educators, scientists, and humanitarians. They are CEO’s of major corporations, and self-made billionaires. They are Senators, Congressmen, and Presidents of the United States.

The Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) It also says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God, created he him: male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:27)

It doesn’t matter how smart, or how rich people are. It doesn’t matter what their position  is. If they don’t know that God created the universe, it doesn’t matter what else they know.

We Are Still a Christian Nation

America has always been a place of religious freedom for all. But, the vast majority of the American people are Christians, not Atheists or Agnostics.

In spite of the enemy’s attempts to eliminate Christianity in America, we are still a Christian nation. A Rassmussen survey found that 79% of American adults believe that Jesus rose from the dead.  http://freerepublic.com/focus/news/2227122/posts

Americans also believe that the Bible is the word of God. Rassmussen found that 63% of of American adults believe that the Bible is the word of Godhttp://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=43957

How about that! It turns out that we’re not losing the culture war after all, we are winning it; and more importantly, God is winning the hearts and minds of the American people, one person at a time.

Tea Party Patriots

We are a Homeschooling family. American History is our favorite subject, and we love going to the Taxpayers Tea Parties.

I’ll never forget the first Tea Party in Memphis.  My daughter and her four kids were there with me. We enjoyed being in the company of hundreds of American patriots. We felt like we were participating in American history. Which, of course, we were.

The kids were amazed by the passion of the speakers addressing the crowd in the open air. They liked answering the speakers saying,”We say no,” in unison with the crowd. We made a memory that day, and I hope they remember it all the days of their lives.

While we were driving home, I told the kids what I remembered about the American Revolution. I told them that Patrick Henry made a stirring speech in which he said “Give me liberty, or give me death.” And that speech was the spark that ignited the American Revolution. It must have been some speech.

So I found it and read it to the children. While I was reading it, I realized that I had never seen the entire speech before. some important things about it. I studied American History in college, but we only read the part where Patrick Henry proclaimed, “Give me liberty or give me death.”

It’s very likely that you have never read it either, and I’ll tell you why. Patrick Henry’s speech has been removed from our textbooks because he talks about God in it.  If  young and impressionable school children read this, they might be inspired to love God and to love America. That would defeat the purpose of modern education which is to indoctrinate our children with secularism, multi-culturism, and socialism.

The following lines are from Patrick Henry’s speech to the Virginia Assembly on March 23, 1775. They are just as true for Americans today as they were then. I believe that he was inspired by the Spirit of God to speak these words.

The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides sir, we shall not fight our battles alone.

There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilent, the active, the brave. . . .

Is life so dear; or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.

The Missing Ingredient in American Life

Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. (Hosea 4:1)

God goes on to say, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)

These scriptures certainly apply to the United States of America. They accurately describe what we are lacking—truth, love, and knowledge of God. The major difficulties that we face—our economic crisis, our run-away government, and the war on terror—are  just symptoms of the real problem, which is a lack of knowledge of God. We don’t know him and we don’t know what he says in the Bible.

The Bible was America’s textbook until it was banned from our public schools. Now, the majority of Americans know nothing about it. The Bible is the greatest treasure we have. It is the source of essential truths that everyone needs to know, to save them from destruction. Here are some examples:

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 2:5)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

How I Became a Christian Author

When I was twenty-one years old, I served in the Army in Vietnam; and I thank God that my name is not on the Vietnam Memorial in Washington. I thought that I got away scot-free, but thirty years later, I was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic-Stress-Order.

PTSD is like the devil. It steals your joy and it steals your life. My doctors saw that I couldn’t control my anger, and they took me off work. So, I spent a year on sick leave, and then took a disability retirement.

American soldiers never “retreat.” We just “fall back and regroup,” and that’s what I had to do. I was in trouble, and I needed God’s help. I spent that year reading the Bible from cover-to-cover

I didn’t know what I was doing at the time; but I was fellowshipping with God in his word. I became fascinated with what I was reading. I copied down all of the Bible verses that jumped out at me, and put them together in a book. That book became The Bible Believer’s Handbook, my first published work.

When you’ve read an author’s work, you feel like you know him; because he reveals his heart and his mind through his words. This is especially true of God, who is the Author of the Bible.

I had swerved into doing what the following passage of Scripture says. I was delighting in the law of the Lord, and meditating on it day and night. I became like the man described in this Psalm; and that put me on a collision course with the blessing of God.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:1-3)

It took the Federal bureaucracy a  long time to process my retirement. My sick leave ran out, and I had no income. When my savings ran out, I was at the end of my rope.  I was old, and broke, and too sick to work; and I didn’t know if I would ever work again. I had  hit rock bottom.

I knew that God was my only hope. I cried out in desperation, “Jesus, please help me!” Jesus heard my prayer and he answered it right away.

The first thing that he did was to eliminate my anger. When I went to bed, I was mad at the world, just like always; but when I woke up, my anger was gone. That intense anger, which had been my constant companion for years, had  just disappeared. Jesus took it away, and he replaced it with joy and peace. I knew that I had experienced a miracle!

I heard somebody laughing, and then, I realized that it was me. I hadn’t laughed in years. Jesus healed me, just like he healed all of those people in the Bible. I was like blind Bartimaeus, who cried out to Jesus, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Mark 10:47) I had done the same thing that he did, and I got the same result. I had acknowledged that Jesus is the Messiah, and cried out to him for help; and he had mercy on me too.

This Psalm is an accurate description of  what Jesus did for me, and I will never stop thanking him for it. “I waited patiently for the Lord: and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of miry pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and trust in the Lord.” (Psalm 40:1-3)

The next thing that Jesus did was to put me back to work. He gave me a better job, with better pay. I didn’t do anything to deserve his help, but he helped me anyway. That’s who he is and what he does. He is our Savior. He does the things for us that we cannot do for ourselves.

Jesus is your Savior too. He loves you and he cares about you. If you’re in trouble, call on him and he will help you too.

I can assure you that everything that Jesus says is true: “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” (John 14:21)
