The Progressives Are Destroying AmericaThe Love Commandment

When the Pilgrims stepped off the Mayflower, they brought the Bible with them. The reason they came here and endured such great hardship was this: They wanted their children to live in a society that was governed by Biblical principles. And their descendents, the Founding Fathers, fulfilled that dream.  They invented a new form of government. And they gave us a nation where we are  free to practice our religion and to govern ourselves.

American exceptionalism is the result of God’s blessing. And the Liberty that we enjoy today is a by-product of Christianity.

Throughout history, our leaders warned us that “Those people who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants.” (Wm Penn) And “It is when people forget God that tyrants forge their chains.”(Patrick Henry) “You can’t enslave a Bible-reading people.” (Horace Greeley) And the Bible was America’s textbook for the first three hundred and fifty years of our existence.

Noah Webster was the greatest American educator who ever lived. Look at what he wrote in his public school textbook, “History of the United States” in 1832: “The religion which has introduced civil liberty is the religion of Christ and his apostles, which enjoins humility, piety, and benevolence; which acknowledges in every person a brother, or a sister, and a citizen with equal rights. This is genuine Christianity, and to this we owe our free Constitutions of Government.”

He was writing to school children. He gave them the following advice, and his words turned out to be prophetic:

“When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God. The preservation of a republican government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty.

If the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted; laws will be made not for the public good so much as for the selfish or local purposes; Corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the laws; the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the rights of the citizens will be violated or disregarded.

If a republican government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws.”

The Progressives measure our “progress” by how far we’ve departed from the teachings of the Bible. Look how how far we have progressed, in their eyes, in the past fifty years! The Ten Commandments are banned in public buildings. And it’s illegal to read the Bible in the public schools.

We were naive enough to let the Progressives remove the Bible from our culture. They knew they had to take our Bibles away before they could enslave us. They tell us there’s no such thing as truth, or liberty that comes from God. They want their government to be our god, and they want to make slaves of us all.

Why are they so afraid of the Bible? What’s in there that scares them so muchl?  It is the truth. And the truth is their enemy. They can’t stand it, and they can’t stand up to it. To them, truth is like Kryptonite to Superman.
