You Must Be Born AgainThe Love Commandment

There are millions of people on the planet who think they are Christians, but they’re mistaken. They’re good people and they mean well, but they have never understood the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. They haven’t received it. They have simply chosen the brand they like from the many varieties of Christian religion.

A real Christian bases his life on the doctrines and teachings of Jesus. But most people have no idea what Jesus taught. It’s recorded in the Bible, but there is a serious lack of knowledge of the Bible throughout the world.

One of the most valuable truths that Jesus revealed to us is this: “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” (John 3:5-7)

Do you remember what 1 John 4:7-8 says, “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. Comparing these two scriptures shows us that having Jesus living in your heart and being born again are the same thing.

Love for others is the litmus test that reveals whether a man is born again, or not. Natural fleshy men do not love their neighbor on their own apart from God. You shall know them by their fruit. Is there love in them, or not?

“We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his neighbor abideth in death.” (1 John 3:14)

“But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” (1 John 3:17)

The answer is that Jesus does not dwell in him. “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” (Romans 8:9)

We can’t just design our own version of Christianity the way we want it to be. We have to follow Jesus’ instructions. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He says that we must be born again, and that’s the way it is. There is no other option, except for death.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

    Larry, brother, an excellent post.

The truths you present are difficult for most Christians to face and accept. You did it with boldness and love. Definitely a voice the American church needs.

In Christ and for His glory,

    Johnny
